Spring Painted Pots
Do you ever get a plant at the store and then wonder what to do with the generic terra cotta pot it came in? Well, we have just the thing! Turn a boring pot into a fun spring painted pot to put your fresh houseplant in. Use your creativity to paint black and white stripes or splatters, or try more detailed designs like we did here. A little gold leafing paint on a plain terra cotta pot can go a long way as well!
This is one of the simplest creations we’ve made, yet the bold black and white colors can make a big statement!
What you’ll need:
- Terra cotta pots
- White and black acrylic paint (or your choice of gold leafing paint)
- Brushes
- A pretty plant
- I suggest two coats of paint to create a nice white base on your terra cotta pot. Then take your black and get to designing!
- If you decide on the natural terra cotta with gold leafing paint, you will take a wider bristled brush and randomly brush strokes of gold horizontally all around your pot, maybe even layering a few strokes to get a nice distressed gold pattern.
- Now fill the pot with your pretty house plant and admire! These look great in clusters on shelves too!

Love this. Very creative and fun for kids to do too.
