Modern Easter Eggs
Here is a modern way to prepare Easter eggs this year. Be sure to involve your children!
What you’ll need:
- Chalkboard paint (this comes in spraypaint form or traditional paint—your choice)
- Chalk (I prefer the chalk markers because they are less messy, but feel free to break out the original chalk sticks too)
- A dish or something to display your newly made creations
Three easy steps:
- Paint your hard-boiled eggs with the chalk paint; set aside to dry.
- Grab your chalk and get creative! This is fun for the kids because they can doodle anything they’d like on their eggs! I prefer modern patterns.
- Display your super-modern Easter eggs!
*Note: These eggs should be used for decorative purposes only. Once they are painted, we do not advise that the eggs be eaten.

The eggs are interesting and creative, but I would be concerned about eating the eggs for fear of paint and chalk residue getting on the eggs when cracking.

You raise a good point. We have added a note to the post advising that the eggs are for decorative purposes only and they should not be eaten once they have been painted.

Looks and sounds amazing...but is it safe to eat the eggs once peeled after they have been painted???

GASP!!!!! Sooo darn cute!!! You could use eggs that have the insides
blown out or maybe even those paper mâché eggs they sell at Michaels.
That way you can keep them indefinitely :)

I wonder if this works on plastic eggs?

Yara- If you spray them with a light coat of primer it should stick. These would translate well (with plastic eggs) into a modern easter wreath. Cute idea!

Why not just blow the eggs out and then paint the shell, since they would wind up getting thrown out anyway. That way the egg is not wasted.

Love the idea. I went out and bought the Black Chalkboard paint but I am having trouble finding a store that carries the markers. Please Advise.
Thank you.
