It’s always nice to have a special place to set your rings and baubles in. These delicate bowls are just the ticket! Set them on a night stand and they will keep your treasures till morning. Best of all, they’re a breeze to make! Happy crafting!

  1. Start the dishes by blowing up several balloons in different sizes. I just bought regular party balloons and eyeballed three different sizes.
  2. Cut your newspaper in small strips or squares. Using the foam brush, adhere the newspaper clippings to the bottom half of the balloon using the Mod Podge. Don’t skimp; you can lay the Mod Podge on pretty thick, so that both sides are covered. Make sure to use at least five layers of the newspaper strips for making the dishes. The more layers, the thicker your dish will be.
  3. Allow your dishes to dry. Place your balloons upside down, nestled inside a paper cup. Let them dry overnight.
  4. Once dry, pop your balloon and remove the balloon pieces. Your dish might look a little rough around the edges. Don’t worry; we’ll clean it up with scissors. Simply trim it down to the depth you want. Have fun here; it doesn’t have to be perfect.
  5. Paint your dishes white, inside and out. This may take a couple coats; be patient!
  6. Once dry, place polka-dot stickers on the inside or your dish. You could also experiment with stripes, a chevron pattern, or anything that tickles your fancy. I chose a simple polka-dot pattern.
  7. Once you have your pattern set, apply the gold leaf adhesive all along the inside of the dish, covering the stickers too. Carefully place your gold leaf on the inside of the dish, covering everything. Feel free to overlap; it might take a few tries to get it in all the nooks and crannies.
  8. Remove your dots, revealing the polka-dot pattern underneath!

Hurray! Now you have a special spot to place your treasures. Enjoy!
