Celebration Jar
I love to celebrate! I will celebrate just about anything—a birthday, anniversary, first day of spring, whatever! This celebration jar will bring life to any special day as it is filled with many fun and festive things. It also makes a great gift. I listed a few things I like to keep on hand at the house and others that are easy to re-create. Get creative and think of your own ways to personalize this special jar!
Things you’ll need:
- A large mason jar (I used the half-gallon size to fit all my goodies)
- Balloons
- Beeswax candles
- Confetti (circles punched out of tissue paper)
- Felt crown (cut your desired shape out of felt and sew a string to each end to tie into a crown shape)
- Noisemakers (tutorial to make your own below)
- Pretty ribbons and such to decorate your jar
Noisemaker Tutorial:
- Colored tissue paper
- White tissue paper
- Silver or gold mylar (look in the tissue paper section for sheets)
- Clear tape (also washi tape can be used for a decorated look as the final step)
- Noisemaker mouthpieces (Amazon, or just take them off of the cheapie ones at a party store)
To assemble:
- Cut your tissue.
One 5″x6″ rectangle of colored tissue
One 2″x6″ rectangle of white tissue
Two 2″x6″ rectangles of myla - Using fringe scissors or regular scissors, cut fringe into your rectangles about 1/8″ spacing and leaving a 1/2″ border on top of each piece.
- Tape one of the mylar pieces around the noisemaker mouthpiece by wrapping the unfringed side around the mouthpiece and then securing it with tape. Then repeat with the colored paper, the white paper, and finally the second sheet of mylar, securing each sheet as you go.
- Optional step: wrap a piece of washi tape around the seam of the noisemaker to complete it with a finished look.
