Baked French Toast
Baked French Toast
This is a wonderful dish to make ahead for guests. Prepare everything in the evening and bake for breakfast! Be prepared for requests for seconds!
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of French bread
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups of half-and-half
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 4 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- Dash of salt
Directions
- Slice French bread into 1-inch slices. Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9×13 baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, honey, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Beat or whisk until blended, but not bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the mixture. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
- Next morning: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Bake for 40 minutes until puffy and lightly golden.
Serve with fresh berries and pure maple syrup.
