I have been inspired by all the eco-friendly and urban-inspired furniture art out there and decided to make some of my own! This technique is super easy and inexpensive, and when you’re done, you’ll have unique art to hang or larger pieces to lean on your walls. So break out a few of your favorite pics and get to it!

Materials Needed:

  • Photos
  • Wooden planks
  • Wood stain
  • Mod Podge (high-gloss is best)

How To:

  1. First, acquire some wood planks! I find them cheap in the remnants bin at the local home improvement store. The thinner the wood, the easier to karate chop 😉 But seriously, you will want to break the wood, at least on one of the edges, to give it a worn look. So let out some frustration and break the plank in half—or to the specific size you would like.
  2. Next, grab your wood stain and start painting. I like mine to be uneven so I apply liberally in some places and lighter in others.
  3. Next, lay out the photos you would like to see on your new wood frame. I collaged mine in groups of two or three. With a clean paintbrush, glue the backs of your photos to the wooden board, and let dry.
  4. Then, in thin coats, paint over the photos and plank so that there is a nice topcoat of your glossy Mod Podge.
  5. Now get out your hammer and nails and hang some art!
