Tissue Paper Flowers
Here is a way to have fresh and easy flowers even when there are no fresh blooms in your yard. These make pretty decorations at any party or in a vase at home, and they can be done affordably to match any occasion or place setting.
This is a great beginner craft and you can get more elaborate by changing your folding patterns or even adding glitter to the tips of your tissue paper. Change the colors and size of your squares and, voila, you’ve got a whole bouquet of beauties. Using more or fewer layers also varies the flowers, and you can snip the ends to make variations in the shape of your petals.
I used an emptied can of chilies for a unique way to display these!
Materials:
- 1 package of tissue paper (I chose multi-color)
- 1 package of green pipe cleaners
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Stack 4-5 sheets of tissue paper and cut into 8” x 8” squares
- Keeping the sheets layered, fold into an accordion. The final shape should be that of a thin rectangle.
- Cut a small notch in the center of the rectangle on both sides. Take the end of a pipe cleaner and twist it around the notch in the center of your rectangle.
- With the stem facing down, gently pull up one layer of tissue paper at a time into the center to create your bud. Pull up the remaining layers, one by one, and gently fluff into place.
- Continue making more flowers with the remaining stacks of tissue paper. Arrange flowers into a uniquely handmade bouquet.

Awesome! I loved this!! I'm going to email my daughter who loves creating with her heart and hands and tell her to check this out for fun! She and her husband work for a Christian High school up in Santa Cruz area where they minister to Asian students who don't know the Lord. (yet) Our Rebekah is always looking for a fun and easy craft to do with the Asian girls... I have a feeling they'll love this! Thanks a lot.
