I have always been the kind of girl who would rather buy something than make it. I never understood why people would go to the fabric store and buy fabric for clothes, when there are perfectly good clothes just waiting to be bought at the store. That all changed recently.

When I discovered etsy.com, I realized there was a whole new world of not just making things, but making cute things exactly the way you want it! My husband Jon has even said that he is amazed that I have transformed into a cooking, cleaning, sewing, blogging superwoman.

I am not going to say that I have made my own clothes or anything, but I have made a few really cute baby things, and an apron for a friend. I have also realized that it is something I enjoy!

When things are just spinning out of control at home or wherever, I can completely control this one little thing I am creating. Jon, being a youth pastor, can be gone a lot in the evenings. And as much as I would like to, I can’t go to every service we have with a baby in tow. I go on Friday nights, and that is pushing it honestly. When he is gone all day and into the night, I really miss him. You can only talk baby talk for so long. 🙂

So lately, I have been sewing or crafting when he is gone at night. I set up my stuff in front of the TV, after the baby is in bed, and work on a project. I can generally finish it by the time he gets home. So it helps me pass the time, and I have something to show for it!
