Greg’s favorite color is blue, but mine is green. We’ve actually had a conversation about which color is God’s favorite! I think maybe it’s both green and blue since we see so much of both in creation.
Green is just so very fresh. To me, it’s the color of new life. The hills of Southern California in the spring are so beautiful. I can hardly take my eyes off the wild grass that sprouts up after the winter rains. It doesn’t last nearly long enough though.

With that in mind, I wanted to create that green theme in a simple centerpiece for my table at home. It turned out so lovely; I thought I’d share it with you.

Gather up containers of similar material in various shapes and sizes. I have several versatile, inexpensive clear—glass ones that I used. I think using all white vases would be absolutely beautiful too!

For my arrangements in these photos I’ve used:

Viburnum – It’s a dainty pom-pom type of flower with clusters of small flowers. I think they look like miniature hydrangeas.

Unique Mint-Julep Callas – These are sometimes known as Green Goddess callas. These tall and stately flowers are perfect for a simple elegant arrangement on their own.

Showy, sturdy “Green” Sunflowers – Brittany and I were driving by a roadside florist and spotted these. When I went back the next day and asked for the green sunflowers I had seen the day before, the florist laughed and showed me that they were just ordinary sunflowers that were past their peak and simply had the wilted yellow petals removed. Voila! Green sunflowers.

Exotic Green Cymbidium Orchids – Orchids are so popular now, you can find them in the grocery store or your local specialty foods market. The stems last for several weeks, but as the blossoms fade, you can remove the fresh, remaining blooms and float them in a short shallow bowl or vase.

Simply cut the stems to your desired length and arrange them separately as I’ve done or together for a one-color striking centerpiece for your spring table.
