This is a very simple and easy project to do with your young ones. Let them work with you in cutting and choosing their fabrics. If they are a little older, let them take a run at sewing an edge together. They will feel so proud when it is completed! These headbands also make cute little present toppers, wrapped up in a see-through wrapping to show off the fabric colors. The idea is fairly simple; it’s the fabric that makes it unique!

Supplies:

  • 2 fabrics, mismatched but complementing each other (14″ long and 2″ wide)
  • 2 ribbons, each 7″ long

Directions

  1. Sew your fabrics inside out leaving bottoms open.
  2. Turn fabric right side out. I like to use a safety pin to safely pull it through. Work the fabric through gently until it is right side out.
  3. Press your headband.
  4. Now, fold in a seam at the bottoms. Take your two ribbons and place one on each end. Slipping the ribbon between your seams, pin in place.
  5. Sew your bottom seams together, also sewing in your ribbons. Reinforce the ribbons extra strong. These take a good tugging when you’re pulling your headband tight… the stronger the better. Enjoy!
