Oilcloth Hangtag
“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. ‘These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.'”
— Deuteronomy 6:5–9
There have been so many times that one scripture has permeated my mind all day. It was the one word of encouragement I needed to get through that day.
How powerful God’s Word is.
Create a cute hangtag. Choose your size, oilcloth fabric, and ribbon. Hang this in your house along with a scripture. Change your scriptures frequently to bless your household. This also works great for a front door sign (i.e. napping, busy, return later) or to use on a gift.
You’ll need:
- 10″ square of oilcloth
- 10″ piece of adhesive chalk paper (Contac paper sells one.)
- 2 shapes to trace from (I used Tupperware lids), one a little larger than the other
- Ribbon
- Eyelet Hole Punch Tool
- Grommets
- Chalk pen
Getting Started:
- Trace your two alternating shapes: trace the larger shape onto your oilcloth and the smaller shape onto your chalk paper.
- Cut out each shape. Center smaller shape over larger shape and stick together.
- With your eyelet puncher, punch out two holes at the top for the ribbon. Insert the grommets and secure the backs. String your ribbon through and write your message with your chalk pen. If you are new to using a punch tool, the Internet has some great videos on how to use it.
Enjoy!
