Names of God: Jehovah-Raah
MEANING:“The Lord Our Shepherd” implies God watching over you day and night, feeding and leading you safely in the way of righteousness | VERSE:“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” —Psalm 23:1 NKJV |
FACT:Ancient shepherds’ responsibilities included counting their sheep and making sure none had gone astray and also keeping their sheep safe by willingly sleeping with their body lying across the gate to the enclosure where the sheep slept. | PRAYER:Lord, help me to keep my eyes on You so I will not stray, but rest in Your care and protection. |
There are many names given to God in the Bible, and each one helps to illustrate a facet of God’s character. These names are placed in Scripture that we might know and understand more about Him.
We encourage you to know more about God’s character through the study of some of His names!

While at Calvary Chapel Bible College, the attributes of God class was one of the most informative teachings that ministered to me. A portion of that class involved the compound names of God. I don't remember ever seeing/hearing Jehovah Raah. Praise God, one more name with which to thank and exalt Him. Surely, He is my (our) Shepherd. And thank you for listing the names of God, that we might know Him better. "And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent." John 17:3. And thanks for the daily emails/devotionals.
Yours in Christ, Rex
P.S. The attributes of God, in light of John 17:3 and the failure to trust Him completely I have seen in many Christians, was the first thing I taught when asked to start a home Bible study.

Thank you so much, this is also teaching me prayers that I can do daily while learning the names of our Father. Thank you, I look forward each month to writing in my book that I have dedicated to your website. I have been searching and searching and I know this is the only part of my walk that is meaningful to me at this point in my life. Once again thank you for this website.

Great reminder of the many dimensions of God. It's easy to forget that He is all things at all times.
