Names of God: Jehovah-Nissi
MEANING:“The Lord Our Banner” implies God can overcome any foe. | VERSE:“The Lord has sworn; the Lord will have war against Amalek from generation to generation.” —Exodus 17:16 NASB |
FACT:Ancient armies would carry banners or flags that identified themselves and often their ideals. Since a banner could be seen from afar, it also served as a rallying point for troops before battle. | PRAYER:Lord, You are my banner with all of Your attributes displayed. I will not fear any enemy, but trust You to be victorious against my foes. |
There are many names given to God in the Bible, and each one helps to illustrate a facet of God’s character. These names are placed in Scripture that we might know and understand more about Him.

Jehovah Nissi is one of my favorite Names for God. I pray often that He go before my loved ones to prepare them for battle in a given situation. Of course, His armor is a must, but that Banner is just a vivid image in my mind: it is lifted high, it is very obvious to the enemy, Satan, and it shows strength and confidence. I LOVE this Name I KNOW this Name! Thank you for all you do to help me to grow.
In His Service,
Anita
