I Stand at the Door
Remember this picture in Sunday School? (I know this will date me; illustrations like this were very popular years ago.)
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock . . .”
Beckoning, me was the comforting, loving attitude of Jesus in this verse; an attitude of patience, of long-suffering that lasted well into the night. Christ was knocking at the door of my heart, I heard the knock . . . and I opened the door.
Sadly, many will not hear his voice or understand it.
“Blessed is the man that heareth me watching daily at my gates waiting at the posts of my doors.”
—Proverbs 8:34
Our new home. Yes, it’s a disaster zone, an empty canvas, void, unlivable, stressful. And just like me, it’s not ready yet, but the door is open.
Dear Lord, it is both a duty and a privilege to wait at the throne of grace for your instruction. As a sinner, I wait upon you, oh Lord, to guide my steps through this journey. With your spirit, lead me to conviction quickly that I may not travel far without you. Discern for me what is your delight, that my home and heart be filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.

I have this picture on one of the short walls over my bedroom closet. It used to be my Mother's. I have only changed the frame. I love this picture. I am so very thankful and blessed that my Mom taught me that Jesus loves me and died on the cross for my sins!
Thank You Lord for everything! May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to You Oh Lord!
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6 NKJV

It wasn't until I was grown that I realized there was not a door knob or handle.....He is knocking waiting for us to let Him in. Loving, patience and constant. I cannot imagine not having Christ in my life.
Forever Thankful,
Joy

I never noticed that the door had no knob. I too love this picture, it gives me a sense of calm. It helps me invision our Lord as the loving, compassionate, and tolerant God that He is.
Thank you for this wonderful reminder.

Thank you for sharing. I also love this Picture not only for what it represents, but for the precious memories it brings to me of my precious Sunday School teachers and how they gave and taught with pure love. It saddens me to see churches get rid of Sunday School classes for kids and adults. Home groups and kid's church just don't give us the spiritual food like Sunday School did.

I have had this picture on my nightstand for 15 years. It never leaves my side, just like the loving, abiding and faithful Savior that reminds me that at the end of each day, I am still and forever will be, His. It reminds me that even though I am of the world, He knocks to beckon me home to His heart each morning and every night before slumber...to point my heart and my life to what and who really matters...my glorious Lord and that He and His plans reign supreme no matter what the world may bring. I love this picture because it is a constant source of comfort, love and sovereignty. It tells me...come back to me child and know that I am God...I love knowing that no matter what, I am His.
