Holiday Ornaments
Since the weather is still mostly warm here in California, I chose deer and pinecones to paint and sparkle, adding a winter woodsy feel to our Christmas holiday. With just a few things I had around the house already, I made these clothespins that add charm to your pretty tree. They also make adorable toppers for presents or can be given in sets as a gift. Anything miniature would really make a great topper once sprayed and sprinkled!
Here’s what you need:
- Mini wooden clothespins
- A miniature of some kind (I chose deer and pinecones)
- Spray paint and glitter in coordinating colors
- Mod podge
- Hot-glue gun
Here’s what you’ll do:
- The task is simple, really! First spray your miniature items in your chosen color of paint.
- While they are drying, use a small brush to coat the top of your clothespin with a thin layer of mod podge.
- Now, working over a paper plate or bowl to catch the excess, sprinkle glitter onto the glued portion of your clothespin. Give the clothespin a few taps over the plate to knock off any excess glitter once thoroughly covered. (You can gather the excess glitter periodically from the plate and continue to reuse it on your other clothespins.)
- Set the clothespins aside to dry. Once the miniatures and clothespins are dried completely, take your hot-glue gun and affix your decoration upon your newly glittered clothespin towards the end that does not have the spring.
- Use your pins however you see fit to add some modern sparkle to your holiday! These would also look great clipped on a wreath or garland.

What a fun thing to do with your children, grandchildren, and ministry children. Something to keep in remembrance of this celebration of Christ and special people for many years to come.
