Instructions
The large heart uses an 8½ x 11 sheet of paper and makes a finished envelope that will hold a regular gift card. The medium heart is sized to fit if you are using 6” x 6” specialty paper. It works for small gift cards or notes.
STEP 1: THE TEMPLATE
There are two ways to use this template. For a reusable template, print on white cardstock paper and cut out the heart. Place the template on your decorative paper, trace around it with a pencil and cut out your heart shape. The dotted lines help you see where to fold. Lay the template on your heart shape (slightly offset) and make pencil marks at each fold line.
To make an easy-fold pattern, print directly on the paper for your heart envelope (this needs to be an 8½ x11sheet). If your paper is patterned on one side, be sure to put it in your printer PATTERN SIDE UP so the fold lines will be on the blank side. Cut out your heart shape.
STEP 2: HOW TO FOLD
Fold the top of the heart first; use your edge scraper to get nice, flat fold. Next, fold the pointed bottom tip to form the flap.
Now open the folds you just made so you can see where to fold the sides. I found it helpful to lay a ruler along the dotted line to get the fold started; then I used the edge scraper to neaten my fold. Repeat on both sides. Fold the curved top back up and your envelope is made!
STEP 3: ADD A NOTE
Handwrite a favorite scripture and personal note. Not sure what to write? Purchased stickers with scripture and phrases for any occasion can help express what you want to say.
If you want to tuck in a gift card, a small piece of two-sided tape will hold the corners together. Seal the flap with a sticker or tie with ribbon or string so it can easily be unfolded.
