This is a really simple and adorable way to make a bag out of felt and some other ribbon accessories that you might have lying around! I decided to make these bags for my girls to collect Easter eggs with this year, but really, they are so versatile that I’m sure we will get much more use out of them! This is a great craft to get the kids involved in, too! Once you sew the perimeter, you can sew on some trim, but it could easily be attached using glue instead!

Materials:

  • Piece of felt—double the size you would like to make your bag. I chose approx 28″ x 11″
  • Lace, trim, ribbon, buttons, etc., to decorate your bag
  • Needle and thread

Directions:

  1. Since I chose to sew my ribbon and trim on instead of gluing them, I did this first while the felt was still flat. I chose a pattern of horizontal lines using different ribbons and trims that were left over from previous projects. I also found a few buttons that I sewed on, as a finishing touch, after the rest of the bag was complete! If you are going to glue on your embellishments though, do this as a last step—after the bag is sewn.
  2. Fold your felt in half, right sides together, and sew both edges, leaving the top open.
  3. Turn inside out.
  4. Sew the ends of a piece of ribbon (approximately 10 inches long) to the inside of both sides of the opening to the bag, creating a handle.
  5. Now finish by embellishing with buttons or gems or whatever else fancies you.
  6. Enjoy your new felt bag!
