Here is a simple craft that will make your “spring cleaning” more fun. I covered my file folders with eye-catching fabrics to enhance the time I will spend organizing the paperwork and receipts I have been collecting throughout the year. Now I have no more excuses . . . it’s time to stop procrastinating and get back to organizing those bills. 🙂

Materials

  • Fabric
  • File Folders
  • Spray Adhesive
  • Scissors or a Rotary Cutter

Directions

  1. Choose your fabric. Fat quarters are an ideal choice, because if you measure and cut carefully, you will have just enough fabric for two folders.
  2. Trim the fabric so that it is slightly larger than the folder all of the way around. The less fabric there is around the edges of the folder, the more careful you will have to be with it later. Set the fabric aside and apply a generous, even coat of spray adhesive to the outside of the folder. Make sure all of the edges are thoroughly covered with adhesive.
  3. Put the folder back on the table (sticky side up!), and gently place the fabric on top. It is best to start at one end and gently move toward the other end.
  4. Using a credit card, start at the center of the folder and gently press all of the air bubbles and wrinkles out to the edges of the fabric. By the time you are done, you should have a nice, smooth surface.
  5. Flip your folder over and use your rotary cutter or scissors to trim away the excess fabric.
