This is a green way to recycle old cereal boxes for organizing magazines, files, or supplies.

Materials:

  • A cereal box
  • X-acto (utility) knife
  • Ruler
  • Rust-Oleum chalkboard spray paint
  • Rubber gloves (optional)

Directions:

  1. In an open area, spray chalkboard paint on all sides of the cereal box. You may have to do this step in stages, to prevent dripping or smearing of the paint. Wait 12–24 hours to dry.
  2. Using the ruler, measure diagonal cuts along the wide side of the cereal box.
  3. Make diagonal cuts using your X-acto knife.
  4. You’re done!  Write what is contained inside anywhere on the box and fill it to your heart’s desire!
