Butterfinger – Banana Cupcakes
My friend Jeanine is an artist, but the canvas and paint she uses are surprisingly delicious and the centerpiece of any party!
She makes amazing cakes, and that might be an understatement. Her recipes are also her own, and very tasty. Although I am not a big sweets lover myself, I wouldn’t give up a single bit of one of these cupcakes.
She rarely shares a recipe, so I’m very excited that she shared this one with us, along with some cupcake decorating tips and a recipe for icing.

Butterfinger – Banana Cupcakes Recipe by Jeanine Hardgrave
Ingredients
- 1 package of plain yellow cake mix
- 1 package of vanilla instant pudding mix (3.4 ounces)
- 1 cup of whole milk
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 3 Butterfinger candy bars, crushed
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place yellow cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Turn mixer on for one minute on low speed. Stop the mixer, and scrape down the sides of bowl with a spatula. Turn on mixer on medium speed for two minutes.
Stop the mixer and stir in the bananas and Butterfinger bars with a large spoon. Pour into prepared cupcake cups. Cook for 17-22 minutes, or until cupcakes spring up when touched.
Makes about 22-24 cupcakes.
How to Decorate Cupcakes
- Bake your cupcakes and let them cool completely.
- Prepare a plastic or parchment decorator’s bag by cutting the end of the bag about 1 inch off, and inserting a tip #2D down the center of the bag so that the tip sticks out of the hole you cut. (Wilton tip # 2D can be found at your local cake supply or craft store.)
- Fill your bag about halfway full with icing. Twist the top of the bag closed.
- Holding the top of the bag closed, begin to squeeze your icing out with enough pressure as to make a thick stream of icing. Continue squeezing with the same pressure while turning the cupcake with the other hand.
- Once you have filled in the top of the cupcake, immediately decorate with sprinkles and toppings of your choice.

Did you guys make those aprons or buy them? I am looking on etsy to get a cute apron for a friend but sadly cant find any quite as beautiful as yours! And if you made them...I think that would be an EXCELLENT idea for your next create project to share. ;)

Hi Jessica, Thank you for your sweet response. I did make these aprons and one of the first craft posts we did was a do it yourself apron! I think the key to a truly unique apron is all in the materials you choose... You can also see some more examples I have done at simplystellas.com. Blessings to you this holiday season and have fun creating!
