Barbecue Chicken and Apple Pizza
It’s a great quick dinner using ingredients you have on hand! This veers a bit away from the normal barbecue chicken pizza. The apples give it great flavor.
Ingredients:
- 1 store-bought pizza shell
- 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
- 1 1/2 cups of chopped cooked chicken (I sauté in olive oil, sea salt, and garlic.)
- 1/2 cup of chopped red onion (optional)
- 1 cup of chopped granny smith apple
- 1 cup of fresh mozzarella cheese or fresh goat cheese
Layer all ingredients in the above order. Cook in a preheated oven at 450 F for 10 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil or cilantro (optional).
You can substitute Canadian bacon for the chicken.

FYI....You can also use a wheat or flour tortilla for your pizza. Once baked you will never know it was a tortilla and it makes a wonderful thin crust pizza. Mmmmmm :)

whoa! My mom has been making barbeque pizza for years, but I never thought of adding apples! I'll have to tell her about this so she can get to chopping those apples into this recipe! THANKS!

Do you cook the store bought pizza crust first, then add the ingredients and bake? Just wondering. Looking forward to making and trying it. Thank you for sharing. Blessings!!

Hi Donna,
You can heat the store bought pizza crust first for a crispier shell, if not just do it all at the same time!
Enjoy!!
