Arrow for My Jewelry
Jewelry can be a pretty adornment to an outfit, but it can also beautify your walls. Here’s a way to create something lovely for your walls that is functional as a necklace or bracelet holder as well! This is a very simple design, so feel free to make it your own, and all of these supplies can be purchased inexpensively at your local craft store!
Things You’ll Need:
- Wooden dowel, approx. 18–24 inches long and 1 inch in diameter
- Soft thin wood piece (I got this at the craft store, and used very thin bamboo sheets, approx. 1/4 cm)
- Metal screw hooks
- Wood glue
- Gold paint
The How-To:
- I started off by cutting a very simple arrow tip (triangle) and feather-like shape for the end. (Really, I used a modern geometrical shape for the “feather.”) The thin wood used for this should be easily cut with scissors! I had to make a few attempts at this since the first splintered a bit in unwanted places, but by my third try on the end piece, it came out just right!
- Now, with a handsaw, cut a shallow groove into both flat ends of the dowel. It’s important that these are both going in the same direction so the arrow will lay flat on your wall!
- Next, I slipped the thin wood into the grooves and, thanks to a bit of wood glue, they stuck well. After the glue dried, I painted my new arrow with gold paint. Of course, you can choose any color of your own liking! I then decided how many screws to use and how far apart I wanted them to hang on the bottom of my dowel—then screwed them in!
- Once finished, I had a jewelry hanger that was easily hung on my wall in the bathroom with a couple of self-leveling hooks.
- Now add your jewelry and enjoy your new project!
