When I have guests over to my home, I often like to dress up the tables with some sort of centerpiece such as fresh flowers, but here’s an idea for a drinkable centerpiece!

I like to use mason jars as drinking glasses. If you need a lot of glasses, they are an inexpensive way to go, and they look uniform when lined up or grouped on a table or tray. Of course, you can always use your own glasses and it would look just as pretty!

9271bWhen having more than a couple of people over, it is nice to tag the glasses in some way so that guests can remember which drink is theirs. Oftentimes I will cut out a very small tag and use a hole-punch to make a hole, then wrap some baker’s twine around the jar. This gives your guest a place to write their names and keep track of their beverage!

In the party pictured here I simply put some decorated Washi tape (a decorated Japanese tape found at a craft store or online) on the glasses and let them write their names on that! I have also found an assortment of vintage looking striped straws on Amazon that I like to place in the jars as a pop of color and interest.

Featured here is a large pitcher of homemade lemonade (utilizing the lemon tree in our yard!) and I also used some of our fresh lavender to steep in the pitcher and give a nice mellow flavor to the drink. You can use any fresh herbs you like; I’ve also used fresh rosemary in the past. Even just water with some fresh sliced fruit floating in it would look great in a pitcher!

Another option I love is using the pretty teas and sparkling juices that come in glass bottles at your local grocery store or Trader Joe’s. These bottles look charming grouped in twos or threes on a tray, surrounded by your beautiful glasses.

It’s a centerpiece that’s both pretty and purposeful!
